The 155TSI’s outstanding direct-injection 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers its high-performance output directly to Volkswagen’s slick-shifting DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmission. The result is seamless performance – to all four wheels, thanks to the advanced 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Because superlative dynamic performance requires more than just a well-sorted engine and driveline, the Tiguan rides on low-profile tyres and larger, 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. Dynamic precision is assured, and safety levels are enhanced by a full complement of driver-assistance technologies including the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), Brake Assist, and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL).
The 155TSI includes equipment upgrades like front fog lights with steering-sensing integrated static cornering lights for added nighttime cornering precision. Volkswagen’s Driver Fatigue Detection System, which warns you if you get drowsy, together with low tyre pressure warning, and auto rain-sensing wipers are also standard.
Performance and luxury go hand-in-hand. The 155TSI’s status in the vanguard of the Tiguan range is refl ected in the myriad detail upgrades – for example the chrome highlights on the protective side mouldings, window frames and chrome roof rails, and the 65 per cent light absorbing dark tint on the rear side windows and rear window.
The driver is cocooned in comfort and support thanks to front sports seats with both height and lumbar adjustment. (These also incorporate clever storage beneath and both storage pockets and passengers’ folding tables behind.) The touchscreen audio system includes an MP3-compatible six-CD changer with SD memory card slot as well as the USB Media Device Interface (MDI) for ultimate connectivity.
